The third set of molars in the back of your mouth are called wisdom teeth. Usually, these teeth erupt in late adolescence or early adulthood. A wisdom teeth is deemed "impacted" if it becomes lodged under your gum line or if there is insufficient space for it to pierce through the gum line. Disease, tooth decay, and other dental issues are more common in people with impacted wisdom teeth. While some individuals with impacted wisdom teeth may not have any issues at all, others may exhibit clear symptoms. A portion of the gums may show when an impacted wisdom tooth breaks through. This wisdom tooth is referred to as slightly impacted.
